Curfew And State of Emergency Issued In Goldsboro Ahead Of Protest

Goldsboro Mayor Chuck Allen has declared a State of Emergency for the entire city and has also instituted a curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. until further notice.

Protests over George Floyd’s death and the actions of the Minneapolis Police officers involved have resulted in violence across our country.  On Sunday night, a protest was held in Downtown Goldsboro that remained mostly peaceful thanks to the Goldsboro Police Department and several community leaders.

Another protest in Goldsboro is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Monday, June 1, and is likely to draw a large crowd in the downtown area.

Mayor Allen today declared a State of Emergency and instituted a citywide curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. until further notice, with the exception of people traveling to or from work.
