Johnston County District Attorney Susan Doyle has announced her office will not seek the death penalty against a Princeton man held in the death of his father.
Evan Thomas Lee, 37, was arrested on the night of March 4th for fatally shooting his 68 year-old father, James Russell Lee, at the family home in the 3800 block of US Highway 70-A.
On April 3rd, a Grand Jury indicted Evan Lee on first degree murder charges. A specific motive for the deadly shooting has never been released but Johnston County deputies said it appears it happened after a domestic dispute.
Doyle tells WTSB News that the District Attorney’s Office will not be seeking the death penalty in the case. If convicted, Evan Lee could spend the rest of his life behind bars.
