Damon Kenny Takes Oath As Smithfield Police Officer

Damon Kenny has been sworn in as one of the newest officers on the Smithfield police force.

Officer Kenny received his Oath of Office from Mayor Andy Moore during the April 2nd council meeting at the Smithfield Town Hall.

Kenny, 22,  was born in Washington, DC and at the age of 10 his family moved to Clayton.  He graduated in 2014 from Cleveland High School. Just weeks after his high school graduate he enrolled in the U.S. Army.  At the end of his enlistment, Kenny moved back to North Carolina and enrolled in Basic Law Enforcement Training at Johnston Community College in Smithfield.

“I chose to work in Smithfield because it’s close to my home and I spent a lot of time here while growing up,” Kenny said.

Officer Kenny has been assigned to the “D” Squad Patrol Division.
