DAR Honors American Heritage

DAR-Members-1Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) have been honoring their American heritage and impacting their communities for 125 years.  The Mary Bryan Chapter was organized in 1979 in Greenwood, Johnson County, Indiana where its members still serve the south side of Indianapolis.  Most recently the Chapter members were invited to perform historical skits at the Heart

h at Stones Crossing in Greenwood.  Six of the members acted out Presidential First Lady Characters that introduced the audience to the historical figures in an enlightening and entertaining manner.  First Ladies skit was narrated by Carolyn Ferraro and included a cast that consisted of Martha Washington (Molly Sanders), Abigail Adams (Cathy Pollachek), Martha Jefferson (JoAn Nichols), Dolley Madison (Mary Sullivan), Elizabeth Monroe (Vicki Jordal) and Louisa Adams (Susanna Selph).  Additionally, the members and audience were led by Abigail Johnson, a member of the John Greenwood Society of the Children of the American Revolution (CAR) in singing the Star Spangled Banner.  For more information about becoming a member to the DAR, contact the Register of the Mary Bryan Chapter at 317-498-1135.
