This past school year the Princeton Police Department placed officers at Princeton Elementary School and Princeton Middle/High School.

Police Chief Michael Smiley said by adding the two new positions it also meant the officers were having to share patrol vehicles, and unfortunately went through a time they were continuously sending patrol vehicles to the maintenance shop to be worked on, leaving the police department short on patrol cars.

The Jones Family donated a Chevrolet Equinox to the police department to ease the burden for the school resource officers.

Chief Smiley said Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell and the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office assisted by donating equipment to outfit the Equinox with lights and siren.

“The Town of Princeton and the Princeton Police Department are very lucky to have these partnerships and we look forward to continue building upon them,” Chief Smiley said.
