JOHNSTON COUNTY – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation following an incident in the 8200 block of NC Highway 39 North.

Around 7:15pm Thursday, authorities said a man was operating a vehicle on private property when he collided with a parked car and small tree.

The man exited the vehicle and exhibited signs of abnormal behavior, according to eyewitnesses. The individual reportedly walked into the roadway where a passing EMS paramedic stopped and called for assistance.

A short time later, the man reportedly collapsed near the roadway and stopped breathing. First responders performed CPR but lifesaving efforts were not successful.

    • Didn’t some guy on a tractor have something like this outside of Micro a few years back. I don’t remember if he made it to the road or not of if they found him in the field. People do strange things sometimes..

    • I think the sheriff office means that they don’t think he was murdered or anything like that. Usually an accident, even on private property, can be just that. Now, whether the person was impaired in any way or had a medical condition – the autopsy will figure that out.
