Death Of 70 Year-Old Man Being Treated As A Homicide
BENSON – A 70 year-old man was found dead at his Benson-area home. Authorities are treating his death as a homicide.
Around 4:11pm Thursday, June 15th, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office was requested to conduct a welfare check at 1621 NC Highway 27 West.
When officers arrived they reportedly found James Dwight Peacock deceased inside the residence. Peacock had sustained what appeared to be a fatal gunshot wound.
The investigation into the shooting death remains ongoing. No information about a possible suspect or motive was released.
