A second person has died from injuries sustained in a fatal weekend wreck near Four Oaks.
Troopers said the crash happened around 11:00pm Saturday in the 500 block of Juniper Church Road just outside the Four Oaks city limits.
A black 1996 GMC SUV was traveling above the posted speed limit when it traveled left of center, overcorrected, then traveled onto the right shoulder of the rural roadway and overturned. All three occupants were not wearing seat belts and were ejected. A front seat passenger, Paul Woodall, 30, of the 4500 block of Hockaday Road, Four Oaks was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Andy Pilkington, 23 of Sandy Road, Four Oaks, was taken to Wake Medical Center with life threatening injuries. He died while in the hospital on Tuesday, according to Trooper J. Alexander.
A back seat passenger, Timothy Toole Jr., 25, of Adam Road, Four Oaks, remains hospitalized at Wake Medical Center.
The NC Highway Patrol said both speed and alcohol were contributing factors.
