One stop early voting for the 2017 municipal elections in Johnston County ended on Saturday. Voters can still cast a ballot on Election Day tomorrow – Tuesday, November 7th – in towns across Johnston County. Polls in each municipality open at 6:30am and close at 7:30pm.
Early voting turnout was extremely light in all towns.
Archer Lodge had only 1 early vote, 2 in Micro, 3 in Pine Level, 4 in Princeton, 7 in Wilson’s Mills and 9 in Benson.
A total of 41 early votes were cast in the four precincts in Clayton, the most votes from East and North Clayton Precincts.
In Kenly, where there is a contested race for Mayor and Town Council, 38 people cast ballots early.
In Selma, where there are contested ballots for mayor and town council as well, only 47 people voted early. The majority, 34 were in the East Selma precinct.
Four Oaks had 64 people to vote.
In Smithfield, where there are contested council races but no contested race for mayor, 241 early ballots were cast. The majority of the votes, 118 were cast by South Smithfield precinct voters, followed by 77 in East Smithfield.
Pine Level, which only had 3 early votes, was the only municipality where Republicans outvoted Democrats, and it was by just one, 2 Republicans to 1 Democrat.
