Deputies Charge Woman In Walmart Price Tag Switching Case

JOHNSTON COUNTY – A Durham woman faces multiple misdemeanor charges after officers allege she deliberately altered price tags to reduce the cost of merchandise during a transaction at a Johnston County Walmart.

According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 11:28 p.m. Jan. 23 to the Walmart on Veterans Parkway in the Cleveland community after loss prevention employees reported a suspected theft.

Investigators allege Ekaterina Khvostova, 32, switched price tag labels on merchandise prior to checkout. Items with a combined value of approximately $390 rang up for about $90.

Khvostova was charged with five counts of larceny by changing the price tag and one count of misdemeanor larceny. She was released on a $2,500 secured bond.

All the merchandise involved in the incident was recovered.
