BENSON – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Benson Police Department, served a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of E. Kennedy Circle, Thursday morning.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office STAR team and Narcotics Division executed the search warrant following an undercover operation reportedly involving the purchase of marijuana from the suspect, 26 year-old Kaylon Ikkee Barnes of Benson.
Guns, 3-D printers and computers were among the items seized from the address, authorities said.
Barnes was charged with two felony counts of sell and delivery of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
On May 31, Barnes was arrested by NC ALE after he was allegedly found to have in his possession a Glock pistol converted to a fully automatic firearm.
The investigation remains ongoing.
As a former high level law enforcement officer this is sad. What a waste of police resources AND OUR TAX DOLLARS for marijuana. Unbelievable how wasteful our government is over a plant that’s legal in much of the country. What a joke.
Absolutely agree! Way more and bigger fish to fry. He clearly was legally in possession of the gun or that would’ve been a charge but they added that extra fact to the article so you think he’s bad. They randomly broke into this man’s house and only got weed…sorry
This is the best comment I’ve ever seen on this site. I agree and sadly joco seems to have priorities out of order.
As an African-American woman I am truly ecstatic that these comments are actually some of the best I have read up here especially when it’s concerning a person of color because usually automatically is seen oh a black person did something stupid but I’m actually glad that people are actually looking at what the whole big picture is they’re wasting tax dollars on stupid s*** excuse my French
The fully auto pistol is one thing but come on, another person getting arrested for Marijuana, time for a change de schedule or re schedule. Ridiculous
MURDER someone and be back on the streets because they have money to hire the right attorney to lower a bond. Whoaaaaah Marijuana!!! Wake up, half of Johnston County smokes it ! ALL ages and guess what? It’s NEVER going to stop growing!
i absolutely love seeing these comments. in other words #FREEHIM 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
As a LONG TIME cannabis user, I can only pray this state AND COUNTRY will finally legalize it. It is PROVEN to be less harmful, helpful in so many cases, and simply NOT the “gateway drug” that opponents have claimed all these years. Experienced in the privacy of your own home, it is more pleasurable than an alcoholic drink! #LegalizeCannabisNow
Not one negative comment on this story and I totally agree with everyone!
Could you imagine just how many people would be alive today if they were given Marijuana instead of addicting narcotic pain pills?! That’s right, it’s ALL about the other “green” aka money, the root of all evil.
No matter what color the “suspect” is what he did is still illegal. The states that have legal marijuana sells also have the highest crime rates as a whole. Condoning and defending the suspect for breaking the law is 100% what’s wrong with this country.
THEY SELL MARIJUANA AT STORES NOW KO DIFFERENT THEN THE BUD HE SOLD!!! FREE HIM HE ISNT A CRIMINAL!!!
Wow congratulations benson police you **** ***** you saved the world by removing plants off the streets, bro was a good guy FREE HIM!!!!
