Cleveland – A Johnston County deputy sheriff and a suspect who fled from the officer both sustained minor injuries following a brief chase Monday afternoon.
The pursuit began on Highway 42 in the Cleveland community after the driver of a blue Ram truck failed to pull over.
The chase entered the CVS Pharmacy on Highway 42 at Cleveland Road. As the truck drove to the rear of the CVS parking lot, the deputy performed a PIT maneuver. While being detained, the operator of the truck was bitten by a sheriff’s K-9.
The suspect and deputy were transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
The NC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
