Detectives Probe $9K Theft From Smithfield Business

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Police are investigating an early morning burglary at a local auto business that resulted in thousands of dollars in stolen equipment.

The break-in was discovered Friday morning, April 17, at Smithfield Tire & Auto, located at 1335 N. Brightleaf Boulevard.

According to authorities, approximately $9,300 worth of tools and equipment was stolen from the business’s garage area during the incident.

The Smithfield Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is handling the case. No suspects have been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
