SMITHFIELD – Police are investigating a shoplifting incident at a local business.
On Saturday, March 2 around 12 noon, an unknown male entered Kay Jewelers on Outlet Center Drive. The individual asked to see several diamond rings, and while the rings were on the counter distracted the employee.
While the store employee was not looking, the suspect placed two diamond rings in his pocket and left. The rings were valued at $8,000, according to a Smithfield police report.
Officers said the theft was not reported until March 8.
You would think these outlet stores would be much smarter by now. They are constantly getting taken out by these worthless thugs….they say if you know better you do better….but I don’t see that happening yet.
Kay jewelers $8000 retail value is about $400 actual value.
Wonder why it took so long to report this? Just a thought, could an employee have taken it and blamed it on a customer? Remember, it’s just a thought.
sounds fishy. 6 days later to report a theft like that. can i see some diamonds?
