A dirt bike operator sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries during a weekend jump.
The incident was reported at 5:31pm Saturday in the 5800 block of Highway 242 South of Benson.
William Tracey Johnson, 47, of Dunn was reportedly operating a dirt bike making jumps in a field while being videotaped by a friend. Several of the jumps were successful. However, during the last jump, Johnson reportedly lost control of the bike and crashed.
Johnson was transported by ambulance to Wake Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident, which occurred on private property. Officials are also looking into whether alcohol may have played a factor.
