Disturbance Over Soft Drink Leads To Shooting At McDonald’s

SELMA – Selma Police are investigating a disturbance at McDonald’s at 335 US Highway 70 East that resulted in the shooting of one person.

Police responded to McDonald’s around 8:25pm Thursday. Investigators located one person suffering from a gunshot wound. They were transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

As many as four other people sustained minor injuries during an physical altercation inside.

Police believe the incident began during a dispute between a customer and employee over the size of a soft drink ordered at the drive-thru. The altercation escalated inside the restaurant where multiple people became involved.

During the disturbance, a gunshot was fired and a male, who was in a relationship with an employee, was shot.

Police obtained warrants against four suspects. As of Friday afternoon, two of the four individuals were in custody. Officers are withholding the names of the suspects until all four individuals are in custody.

Detectives believe the incident all started because a customer allegedly felt they were given the incorrect soft drink cup size with a drive thru order.
