More than two years after a young girl was raped by a burglar inside her home, an arrest has been made in the case.
Around 6:30 AM on October 18, 2013 the child was alone inside her Four Oaks home while her mother carried another child to the bus stop. Four Oaks Police Chief Stephen Anderson said evidence was collected at the scene and submitted to the SBI Crime Lab. After more than two years, the DNA was tested and a match was made.
On Wednesday, Mondarus Jamar Harris, 22, was located by Smithfield Police in the 800 block of Berkshire Road and arrested. Harris reportedly has addresses in Four Oaks and on Holland Drive in Smithfield.
Harris is charged with two counts of statutory rape and one count of felony breaking and entering. Chief Anderson said the young victim did not know her attacker.
He was confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $120,000 bond.
