For the third time within the past 12 months, a local Dollar General store was robbed.
Thursday night, two men armed with handguns robbed the Dollar General at 10525 Cleveland Road near the I-40/NC42 interchange. Around 9:30pm, the gunman, who were wearing masks, entered the business, told the clerk to be quiet then forced the manager to open the store safe. An undisclosed amount of money was taken.
It was exactly one year ago to the day the same store was robbed by two men who forced employees and customers to the floor, taking cash and fleeing on foot. Authorities have no evidence suggesting the two robberies on Sept, 14, 2016 and Sept. 14, 2017 are linked.
In February 2017, a Durham man was charged with robbing the Cleveland Road store then a second Dollar General location in Raleigh about 30 minutes later.
No injuries were reported in Thursday night’s robbery.
