Drive Thru Worker Assaulted With Hamburger, Police Say

An employee at a local fast food restaurant says a customer in the drive thru assaulted her with a hamburger. The incident was reported Wednesday night at Checkers at 100 Smithfield Crossings Drive.

Police said a 42 year-old employee was working the drive thru around 9:23pm when words were exchanged with a customer. The customer then allegedly threw a hamburger towards the employee.  The hamburger missed, striking the window.

Officers were called and took a report.

Police said it appears the victim and suspect knew one another and the two had been involving in an ongoing dispute. Both parties were advised to see a magistrate.  At last report, no charges have been filed.
