Driver Arrested During Interstate 95 Traffic Stop

SMITHFIELD – An out-of-state motorist was arrested during a traffic stop.

On September 11 around 4:35pm, a Johnston County SAFE Team deputy stopped a car for speeding 85 miles per hour on I-95 near the 94 mile marker in Smithfield.

During the traffic stop the officer reportedly noticed a Glock 9mm handgun in plain sight. The officer ran the serial number on the gun and learned it had been reported stolen in Georgia.

The driver, identified as Errol Baker Domnie, age 30, of Covington, Georgia was wanted on a Pennsylvania warrant for driving while impaired.

Domnie held without bond on the Pennsylvania extradition warrant. He was given a $75,000 bond for felony possession of a stolen firearm.
