A short chase from Johnston into Wayne County Saturday afternoon led to the arrest of a Morehead City woman.
Motorists in eastern Johnston County began calling 911 after seeing a couple in a vehicle traveling on US 70 fighting. A sheriff’s deputy located the vehicle on US70 near Princeton and attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver failed to pull over, according to Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell.
The chase entered Wayne County, where the female driver did a u-turn and eventually came to stop in the westbound lanes.
Kayla Renee Rudd, 20, was charged with failure to stop for a light or siren and domestic assault and battery. The 24 year-old male victim, identified as her husband, sustained a minor facial injury. Authorities said Mrs. Rudd did not show any signs of injury.
