Driver Charged With Child Abuse, Other Offenses After Car Chase

KENLY – A two county chase ended with the arrest of a 31 year-old man on multiple charges.

Around 1:25pm Tuesday, May 21, a Johnston County SAFE Team deputy stopped a black Lexus for speeding on NC 222, about three miles west of Kenly.

Authorities said the driver, Timothy Walter Fuller of Bottoms Dairy Road, Elm City, initially pulled over then sped away from the traffic stop.

A chase ensued near Kenly, then into Wilson County, where Fuller reportedly jumped and ran into a wooded area. Following a nearly two hour search, a Wilson County K-9 located Fuller and he was taken into custody.

Authorities said there was a 12 year-old child in Fuller’s vehicle.

Fuller was charged with fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, child abuse, speeding, reckless driving, driving on a revoked license, resisting a public officer, and failure to maintain lane control. He was held under a $50,000 secured bond.

The Lexus was seized under the NC Run and Done law.

No injuries were reported.
