Driver Charged With DWI, Cocaine Possession After Running Stop Sign

SELMA – Police in Selma said they located cocaine inside a vehicle stopped for running a stop sign on Crocker Street at Ricks Road.  At 12:15am Friday, an officer on patrol spotted a silver Mitsubishi fail to stop for a stop sign and pulled over the vehicle.

Police said the driver, 47 year-old Milton Thomas Miller of Davis Street, Smithfield, was sweating profusely, very anxious, jittery and making sudden jerking movements and was unable to sit still.  Police said Davis was continuously yelling and raising his voice at officers.

Officers also suspected Miller was under the influence of narcotics.  A blood sample was later taken from the suspect.

Miller was charged with possessing two grams of suspected cocaine, driving while impaired and a stop sign violation.  He was transported to the Johnston County Courthouse where a criminal magistrate set his bond at $10,000 before being processed into the County Jail.

Two passengers in the Mitsubishi were released without being charged.
