A Clayton woman was arrested for driving while impaired after deputies reportedly found her behind the wheel of her SUV in a parking lot on Highway 42 near I-40 around 11:15 PM Wednesday.
Deputies said the vehicle was still running when they found the suspected impaired driver who claimed she had stopped at the location because she wanted to check her email messages.
Janice Marie Cargill, 61, of Cambridge Elm Drive, reportedly had slurred speech and failed a sobriety test. She later registered 0.11 on the Breathalyzer, which is above the legal limit of 0.08.
Cargill was charged with DWI.
