A Wayne County man is facing charges in a two vehicle accident Monday morning on Highway 70 at Swift Creek Road in Wilson’s Mills.
Wilson’s Mills Police said the crash occurred at 8:35am in the eastbound lanes of US70 after a 1999 Jeep SUV driven by Christopher M. Jones of Goldsboro rear-ended a 1997 Honda operated by Youssef Boukhris of Clayton. The impact knocked the Honda 135 feet and into the westbound lanes.
Police estimated Jones was traveling at 45mph at the time of impact and Boukhris was traveling at 10mph.
Boukhris sustained minor injuries and was transported by EMS to the hospital. Jones was not injured.
Sgt. T.L. Winstead cited Jones for unsafe movement.
Damage to the Jeep was placed at $3,000. Damage to the Honda was estimated at $4,000. Photos by John Payne
