Driver Clocked Speeding 141 MPH Crashes Car While Trying To Elude Trooper

FOUR OAKS – A driver was arrested after crashing his Dodge Charger while trying to elude a state trooper.  At 12:40am Thursday,  a state trooper was running radar on Interstate 95 and clocked a car traveling southbound at 141mph in a 65mph zone.  The trooper attempted to stop the Charger but the driver refused to pull over for the officer’s blue lights and siren.

The suspect attempted to elude the trooper by exiting off I-95 at Keen Road (Exit 87) in Four Oaks at a high rate of speed but lost control of the Charger while speeding at an estimated 115mph.   The Charger ran off the exit ramp and traveling 397 feet before coming to rest.

Jarvis Lamar Turner, 29, of Fayetteville was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, speeding 141mph in a 65mph zone and reckless driving to endanger.

Turner and a passenger in the Dodge were not injured.  The vehicle, which sustained $7,000 in damages during the single car crash, was seized.
