SMITHFIELD – Thursday night, a single vehicle accident sent the driver of a passenger car to the hospital after she lost control in a curve on Swift Creek Road near the Johnston County Airport, ran off the roadway, and crashed into a sign and fence at a Johnston County Solid Waste Convenience site.
The vehicle was heavily damaged when it struck a large fence post and destroyed the chain link fence gate at the entrance to the trash disposal site.
The driver sustained minor injuries.
The NC Highway Patrol, Johnston County EMS and Wilson’s Mills Fire Department responded.
