BENSON – One person was killed in a single vehicle accident on Interstate 40 in southern Johnston County, Tuesday afternoon.
The accident happened in the eastbound lanes near the 330 mile marker, just east of Interstate 95.
The Highway Patrol said a white passenger can ran off the roadway to the right and collided with a group of trees. The driver died at the scene. The name of the driver was not immediately released.
One eastbound lane of I-40 was temporarily closed.
