The State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal car crash Tuesday night in Wayne County. It happened around 10:45pm on Stoney Creek Church Road. A vehicle ran off the roadway in a curve, traveled down a steep embankment and slammed into a group of trees. The car then caught fire.
The driver died at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
Troopers said speed was a contributing factor.
The next-of-kin has been notified, however the name of the victim has not been released pending completion of the investigation.
