The driver of a compact pickup truck was seriously injured in a single vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon in Johnston County.
The man was operating his pickup truck on Highway 222 West of Kenly at Antioch Church Road when he ran off the roadway in a curve and overturned in a field. The driver was ejected into the field and badly injured.
A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene but was later cancelled after the victim was rushed to Wake Medical Center by ambulance.
Alcohol was believed to be a contributing factor. Also the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
The Antioch Fire Department, Johnston County EMS, and the NC Highway Patrol responded.
