Driver Failed To Stop At Intersection Causing Crash, SHP Says

BENSON – The State Highway Patrol has cited a Willow Spring woman with causing a serious crash Monday night that injured four people.  The collision was reported shortly after 7:00pm on Old Fairground Road at Benson-Hardee Road.

Troopers said Jessica Nicole Sanchez, 22, of Willow Spring was operating a 2019 Honda passenger car and failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection.  Her vehicle was struck by a 2013 Ford pickup operated by David Jedidiah Humphreys, 32, of Coats.

Sanchez and three passengers, ages 5, 21 and 21, were injured. They were transported to Wake Medical Center for treatment. Humphreys and a 19 year-old passenger in the pickup were not injured, according to an accident report.

Troopers said Sanchez ran the stop sign causing the collision. Both vehicles were traveling at an estimated 45mph at the time of the collision.  The Honda was knocked 113 feet from the point of impact.

Trooper C.J. Bell cited Sanchez with failure to stop for a stop sign.
