SELMA – A man out of jail on bond awaiting trial was rearrested following an incident in Selma. Thursday morning, Selma Police were conducting traffic enforcement on US 301 North (N. Pollock Street) when an officer spotted a black passenger car speeding.
The officer attempted to stop the car as it turned off US 301. The vehicle failed to pull over, as it continued to turn onto several side streets. While traveling on West Street, and attempting to elude pursuing officers, the driver lost control and struck a ditch. The suspect fled on foot and disappeared in the vicinity of a nearby apartment complex on W. Preston Street.
As officers began searching the area on foot, a woman emerged from her apartment and told police a man she didn’t know was inside. Police found the suspect inside her apartment.
Trevon Monteay Smith, 36, of Little Devine Road, Selma was arrested on multiple offenses. Police said they found suspected cocaine, marijuana and prescription pills inside the wrecked rental vehicle.
According to court documents, Smith was out of jail awaiting trial for a May 2022 arrest by the Highway Patrol for driving while impaired and driving on a revoked license.
Police charged Smith with felony fleeing to elude arrest, driving on a revoked license, possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, breaking and entering.
I hope he does not make bail now and glad he did not hurt the woman.
Trevon Monteay Smith got charged for driving on a revoked license while he was out on bond for driving on a revoked license! Which means that before that at some point he had his license revoked!
BTW, since he had cocaine in his car, was he tested to see how much he had taken?
good job Selma Boys!
