Driver Injured After Car Slams Into Clayton Medical Office

CLAYTON, N.C. — A driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries after crashing a vehicle into a medical office building in Clayton Wednesday afternoon.

The Clayton Fire Department responded just before 1 p.m. to a report of a vehicle that struck the North Carolina Heart & Vascular building at 2076 Veterans Parkway, Suite 100.

The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was injured in the crash and transported to UNC Health Johnston – Clayton for treatment.

Although the driver was taken to the hospital within the same medical complex, officials emphasized the collision occurred at a separate medical office building.

No patients or employees inside the North Carolina Heart & Vascular office were injured.

The collision caused damage to the exterior of the building. Staff from the Town of Clayton Inspections Department, along with the hospital’s contract engineers, evaluated the structure and determined it is safe to remain occupied.

As a result of the damage, two exam rooms will be temporarily closed while repairs are completed. The remainder of the facility remains open and continues to see patients.

The cause of the crash has not been released.
