SELMA – Highway 96 about five miles north of Selma was closed for several hours Saturday afternoon after a gasoline tanker overturned. The NC Department of Transportation set up a detour for motorists.
An eyewitness to the crash helped pull the driver from the cab of the truck. The driver was seriously injured and transported by EMS to Wake Med.
Another fuel tanker responded to the scene to offload the 8,600 gallons of gasoline the overturned tanker was hauling.
The State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the single vehicle accident.
