Driver Injured In Highway 96 Crash

An 18 year-old driver was injured when the car she was operating ran off the roadway.  The accident happened Wednesday at 1:57PM on Highway 96 South of Four Oaks near the intersection of Thompson Road.

According to the NC Highway Patrol, Gabriella Sky Massey of Kenly was traveling southbound on Highway 96 South when her 2006 BMW ran off the roadway to the right, struck a mailbox then struck a driveway culvert.

Massey was transported by Four Oaks EMS to Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The Highway Patrol estimated Massey was traveling at 50mph in a 55mph zone at the time of the single vehicle collision.  Damage to the BMW was estimated at $15,000.

State Trooper V.E. Rivera investigated the accident.
