Driver Injured In I-95 Hit And Run Crash

FOUR OAKS, N.C. — A 72-year-old Raleigh man was injured in a hit and run accident on Interstate 95 in Four Oaks Saturday evening.

The collision was reported around 6:40 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95.

According to authorities, the man was driving a 2005 Toyota when a tractor trailer struck the back left corner of the vehicle.

The impact forced the Toyota off the right side of the interstate, through a fence, and into a ditch at the intersection of Highway 96 and Brewer Road, near Ashley Furniture.

Officials said the driver of the tractor trailer failed to stop following the collision and fled from the scene.

The driver of the Toyota was transported to WakeMed with non-life threatening injuries.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
