A man lost his life in a single vehicle accident Monday morning on Old Baucom Road in Wake County, near the Johnston County line. The roadway was shut down for hours following the 10:15am crash.
Michael Coombs of Raleigh was traveling on Old Baucom Road when his car ran off the roadway, overturned several times and struck a utility pole, according to state troopers. The car came to rest upright on its tires. The 60 year-old driver died at the scene.
Duke Energy crews spent several hours on the scene replacing the damaged pole.
