FOUR OAKS – A serious crash south of Four Oaks is under investigation. The single vehicle accident was report just before 8:00pm this evening (Wednesday) at the intersection of Webb Mill Road and Thompson Road.
A white Ford passenger car slammed into a tree at the rural intersection seriously injuring the driver. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
The Highway Patrol is trying to piece together how the crash occurred. The driver appeared to have been trying to turn around in the intersection, or lost control as they turned, and traveled off the roadway at an excessive speed on at least three sides of the intersection before striking a tree.
The driver was rushed to WakeMed with serious injuries.
Johnston County EMS, Four Oaks Fire Department, and Blackman’s Crossroads Fire Department responded.
