Police said a 2018 Nissan Rogue rear-ended a 2003 GMC Sierra truck. Witnesses said the GMC truck left the scene after the collision.

The 26 year-old female driver of the Nissan was transported to WakeMed in Raleigh with serious injuries. Officers later found the GMC truck abandoned in a parking lot near Garner and Shotwell Road.

Two lanes of Highway 70 were shut down for about two hours until the scene could be cleared.

The driver of the GMC truck has not been located but Clayton Police are continuing to investigate. Officers believe that alcohol may have played a factor.
