Driver Seriously Injured In Collision Involving School Bus

One person was seriously hurt after a school bus and lawn maintenance truck collided Thursday morning in Johnston County.

The accident was reported around 9:30am on Covered Bridge Road at Applewhite Road east of Archer Lodge.

Initial reports indicate the driver of a TruGreen truck failed to stop for a stop sign on Covered Bridge Road and collided with school bus #50 turning at the intersection.

The driver of the maintenance truck had to be cut from the cab before being taken by Johnston County EMS to Wake Medical Center for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the school bus and two students on board were not hurt.

The bus was transporting students to Johnston Early College on the campus of Johnston Community College at the time of the accident.  A replacement bus was brought to the scene and the driver completed the route.

The NC Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.

The Archer Lodge and Thanksgiving Fire Departments and Johnston County Emergency Management also responded to the accident.  Photos by JoCoReport.com
