Driver Seriously Injured In Road Rage Shooting

Authorities are searching for a gunman who opened fire into a car on Highway 210 Saturday night following a road rage incident.

It happened around 8:00pm near the intersection of Shady Grove Road in the Spring Lake community in Harnett County.

The victim, whose name was not released, was traveling near the intersection when he met an oncoming car with its bright headlights activated. The victim flashed his headlights in an attempt to get the oncoming driver to dim his lights.

The suspect turned around and began following the victim.  The victim stopped for a stop sign at the rural intersection. The suspect pulled alongside the victim’s vehicle, rolled down his window and a verbal altercation occurred over the bright lights.

The suspect pulled out a handgun and fired from inside his car as many as 5 rounds at the victim’s vehicle. The victim was struck in the shoulder. His passenger was not hit.

The victim called 911 and traveled on Highway 210 into Cumberland County where he met law enforcement and EMS personnel. The victim was hospitalized in serious condition.

The suspect, a black male, was operating a white Dodge Charger with tinted windows, rear spoiler, and black aftermarket wheels with low profile tires. There were two black male passengers in the Dodge Charger.
