Troopers have released details of a high speed single vehicle crash in western Johnston County that left the driver pinned in the wreckage.
Sgt. J.L. January with the NC Highway Patrol District Office in Smithfield said the accident happened at 10:58pm Thursday on Mt. Pleasant Road at the intersection of Old Fairground Road.
Sgt. January said a burgundy Ford pickup truck ran off the road to the right and struck a tree at an “extreme high rate of speed.”
The driver, 41 year-old Jorge Armando Nava-Solis of Garner, was pinned in the wreckage and had to be cut free by emergency personnel.
After being freed, Nava-Solis was transported by Johnston County EMS to Wake Medical Center in Raleigh for treatment of his injuries.
Nava-Solis was charged by Trooper H.D. Nazal with driving while impaired, driving without a valid license, failure to maintain lane control and reckless driving.
