DUNN – A NCDOT Incident Management Assistance Patrol (IMAP) vehicle was struck from behind late-Tuesday while stopped to check on two drivers that had hydroplaned on Interstate 95 just north of the Long Branch Road interchange (Exit 71). The accident happened in the Work Zone for the I-95 Widening Project.
The NCDOT employee was out of his vehicle checking on the drivers who had hydroplaned when a passenger car slammed into the rear of the truck.
The driver that struck the IMAP truck was transported to a local hospital. The State Highway Patrol investigated.
