A driver got the attention of an officer conducting traffic enforcement on US 301 South in Selma early-Sunday.
Around 3:00am, the officer clocked a car traveling at only 15 mph in a 45 mph zone. The officer began to follow the vehicle and notice the car began weaving in the travel lane and activate the brakes lights.
During a traffic stop, police detected an odor of alcohol, although the driver, Alfonso Padilla-Chino, 29, of US 70 Highway, Clayton told them he had consumed only one beer.
After several failed attempts at obtaining a breathalyzer test, he was transported to the hospital where a blood sample was taken.
He was charged with driving while impaired and driving on a revoked license and given a $2,000 bond. At the time of his arrest he was reportedly driving on a revoked license from a previous DWI conviction.
The 2007 Mazda he was allegedly operating was impounded by police.
