Driver Wanted After Hit And Run Crash Seriously Injures Amazon Delivery Driver

WILSON’S MILLS – Law enforcement officers are searching for a hit and run driver who reportedly caused a serious accident then fled from the scene.   The collision happened around 11:30am Tuesday on Swift Creek Road at Jones Court in Wilson’s Mills.

Police Chief A.Z. Williams said a gray 2001 Lincoln Continental rear-ended a Dodge Ram Amazon delivery van while it was parked on the shoulder of Swift Creek Road.   The van was struck as the driver returned after making a delivery.  The crash catapulted the van into the driver causing him to sustain serious injuries.

The driver of the Lincoln, identified as Keonne Lacurtis Laws, 29, was the only occupant in the car.  Laws was observed immediately after the crash fleeing the scene in a burgundy Kia that drove away with him inside.

Based on witness information police determined Keonne Laws may have fled due to items observed by citizens who stopped at the accident scene moments after the collision.

Chief Williams said a hand gun was observed inside the car and was later recovered near the accident scene in a nearby tree line where Laws was also observed sitting.  Recovered from the same area was a loaded Glock 9mm hand gun, approximately one ounce of marijuana and a scale.

Wilson’s Mills Police have obtained multiple warrants against Keonne Laws charging him with felony hit and run, possession of a stolen gun, possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to reduce speed.

Laws is described as 6 foot 1, 225 pounds. His last know address was on W. Edgerton Street in Smithfield.

Anyone who has any information on the whereabouts of Keonne Laws or information on the burgundy colored Kia that drove him away is asked to call Wilson’s Mills Police at 919-938-3885 or call 911.
