Clayton Police have charged the driver of a minivan that struck a driver’s education car head on. It happened around 3:00pm Tuesday on Glen Laurel Road near Vinson Road.
Police said Rayford Woodall Jr. of Zebulon was operating a minivan at the posted speed limit of 45 mph when he crossed the marked double yellow line and collided with a driver’s education vehicle being operated by a 15 year-old Corinth Holders High student. The student was able to hit the brakes before the crash. He had to be cut from the wreckage.
A second Corinth Holders student, riding in the back seat, and the instructor, who was in the front passenger seat, were also hurt. They were taken to Wake Medical Center for treatment. None of the injuries were life threatening.
On Wednesday, the 15 year-old driver was still hospitalized at Wake Med. The student passenger and instructor were both treated and released.
Woodall, who was not transported to the hospital, was charged by police with driving left of center.
