SMITHFIELD – Law enforcement officers used a K-9 and drone to apprehend two young burglary suspects. Around 1:16am Monday, Smithfield Police responded to a burglary at Harper’s Flea Market Mall, located at 1410 S. Brightleaf Boulevard.
Officers said both suspects fled from the business upon their arrival. One was immediately captured, while the second ran into a wooded area.
A Johnston County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and Four Oaks Police drone were used to locate the second suspect.
The offenders, ages 14 and 15, will face charges in juvenile court. They were returned to the custody of their guardian after the incident.
No items were immediately reported missing.
