Four Oaks Police are continuing their effort against drugs. Saturday night, Police Chief Stephen Anderson said officers went to a room at the Travelers Inn on Highway 96 at US 701 following complaints about possible illegal drug activity.
Police were given permission to search the room. During the search, suspected crack cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a fully loaded assault rifle were found. A Selma Police K9 alerted on an SUV parked outside the room. Police seized the SUV until a search warrant could be obtained to look inside the vehicle.
Two people are facing charges.
Social workers responded and removed a child from the room. Animal control officers took two dogs from the room. One pit bull mix was believed to have been guarding the drugs seized by police.
In addition to the narcotics and assault rifle, police found numerous pirated movies, cell phones and electronic devices.
