Dunn Sailor Promoted To Rank Of Petty Officer 1st Class

Joint Base San Antonio – Fort Sam Houston – Cryptologic Technician 2nd Class Michael Murray, of Dunn, NC, assigned to Navy Recruiting Station South San Antonio was promoted to the rank of petty officer first class in America’s Navy by Cmdr. Nicholas Gamiz, NRD commanding officer, during a frocking ceremony held on Jan. 13, 2019 at NRD headquarters.

Murray, a 2011 graduate of Harnett Central High School in Angier, enlisted in America’s Navy in 2012 becoming a Navy recruiter in 2019.

“Becoming a petty officer first class means that I can have more of an impact on today’s Navy,” said Murray. “Also, to better mentor junior Sailors.” Navy Recruiting District (NRD) San Antonio’s area of responsibility includes more than 34 Navy Recruiting Stations and Navy Officer Recruiting Stations spread throughout 144,000 square miles of Central and South Texas territory.
