A 39 year-old woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon by Smithfield Police following a single vehicle accident on N. Third Street near Bridge Street.
Police said Crystal Rose King of Meadowbrook Road, Benson was operating a 2014 Kia when she ran off N. Third Street and collided with a fire hydrant. According to an accident report, King allegedly told officers she was looking at her phone when she the accident occurred.
Police obtained a blood sample from King and charged her with driving while impaired and a mobile phone motor vehicle violation. She was released on a $1,000 bond.
No injuries were reported.
